Being of Service

It’s August; wait, what? Where did June and July go? Time flies when we’re busy or having fun. I hope you have been less busy and having more fun doing what you love. My father Morry once said, Eaden, “Do what you love and then try to find out how to make a living at it.”

How do you feel about your work? Are you doing what you love? Or are you doing what you have to, for the better part of the week to pay the bills, stealing time when you can to explore your passion?

I pose these questions because we are living in a unique time in history when humanity appears to be out of balance. There’s a lot of sickness, which from the yogic perspective, has less to do with the physical aspect of our being and more to do with our lack of connection to nature and spirit.

How does the topic of service tie into our work-life? I’d like to propose that when we discover and live our passion, we not only feel happiest but we also provide the highest level of service to the world.

Take time over the next month to inquire into your passions. There’s a limitless pool of energy that can be accessed when we share our God-given talents. Let go of the grandiose, keep it simple and just be you. Being of service doesn’t look a certain way. You are a divine being of light and when you do what you love, you share that light with all of creation.

One final note, not everyone is able to make an instant pivot, so until you do, infuse your work with mindfulness and presence, which is love. We may not always enjoy our work but we can choose to be present and loving, which is a great gift to ourselves and all those we encounter.

Blessings on your journey,
